St. Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School was established in 1981 as a Primary English Medium School, by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottar, a Religious Minority. The Bishop of the Diocese is the manager of the school and he appoints a Priest of the Diocese, as its Correspondent and another Priest if needed as the Co-Correspondent. The sisters of Charity of St. Anne have been rendering their services towards the growth of the Institution since 1984.
In the academic year 1997-1998, the school was upgraded into a Matriculation School with Std. VI and in the year 2002-2003, it was again upgraded as Matriculation Higher Secondary School with Std. XI. Stds I to X are affiliated to the Matriculation Board and Stds XI and XII to the Higher Secondary Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
